Thailand - Sukhothai
Wat Thawet
This is a different kind of temple to the rest you see in Thailand. It is a series of statues that tell the story of the Ramayana and other statues from a local monks dream. Very dramatic. If this doesn't sound interesting to you, well sometimes statues aren't very interesting but these are. They were all made over a fifty year period and more are still being made as a local monk took it upon himself to fulfill his fathers work of making these statues based on a dream he had. ....

Bhutan - Thimphu
Bhutan
I went with an affinity group (a dozen people) and had an absolutely fantastic time, visiting religious festivals (Buddhist and Bon) and towns at the 8000 - to - 12000 foot leval. It'a a great place for photography; you'll find some of mine at //ordman.net (->travel photos -> Bhutan). Note that internal travel in Bhutan is very slow - narrow roads clinging to mountainsides, often a car goes 15 km in an hour. Niceties like toilets and hot water tend to be in short supply. Expe....
Mexico - Yucatan Peninsula
Perfect Place to Stay in Tulum
At this place, you can get a cozy straw hut with sand floors on the beach for $8/night hammock included. It's situated on one of the nicest beaches in the peninsula (or world for that matter). It is one of the few places that is walking distance from the Tulum ruins, and some even stay here and swim to Tulum to sneak in w/o paying the fee (not recommended). Definitely one of the best bargains in Latin America.
Guatemala - Rio Dulce
Hidden Cave Near Rio Dulce, Guatemala
A beautiful series of subterranean waterfalls and stalagtites inside a cave.
Cuba - Havanna
Photography in Cuba
Cuba is a photographers's dream. It is quite a contrast from southern Mexico as Cubans love to have their photos taking. The only problem that you may have, is getting natural shots as Cubans are eager to pose for your pictures:) The people are fairly dark skinned so make sure you bring lots of your favorite portrait film for dark skin tones. Good slide film is sparse there and whatever you do, do not process any E6 there. I had a roll come out 2 stops too dark due to the lab using....
United Kingdom - England - Berkshire
Windsor Castle
Windsor Castle is very impressive, its huge and its setting is fantastic. We spent the day wandering around the castle and then took the walk along the Royal Mile. This was very pretty. We then made our way round the Windsor pubs, they were quaint little pubs. Windsor is lovely but dont expect a cheap pint.

Portugal - Algrave, Southern Portugal
Albuferia
We stayed in a fanastic little guest house called Pensao Dianamar. This is run by Swedish women and the place is really nice and clean and easy walking to the beach and all the main places of interest. Albuferia is a very pretty little town with a lot of tourists, restaurants, a fab beach, plenty of shops also cheap alcohol shops. This town didnt seem to expensive since it was a tourist town.
