Location: Leave Nepal in the east and go to Calcutta, from there escape the smog and bad pollution to the wonderful hill station of Darjeeling. It takes about two hours in the back of a jeep - jaunty ride!
Stay in any of the cheap guest houses (use your guide book) but then pay equivalent of 50p to sit in one of the two best hotels really traditionally 1940's English design to drink the Darjeeling tea gown in the fields all around you. Stay in the hotel dining room watching the afternoon mist creep up the side of the hill, sat in front of the real fire and then wait for afternoon tea - sandwhiches and cakes etc...!! Visit Happy Valley Tea Estate and see how tea is produced then packaged for sale around the world. If you feel brave to battle an early morning then get up at 4am and drive to Tiger Hill where you can see the sun rise and in the far distance catch a glimpse of Everest.
