Location: Approximately 2 hour drive from Prague
We recently visited South Moravia in the Czech Republic for the first time - we rented a chalet from a private owner. The chalet was affordable (300 pounds for a week between 4) and the cost of food and drink in local area was unbelievably cheap. It really is a very special area to spend a week - lots of forest, seemingly thousands of castles, walking and cycling tracks, vinyards in the area south of Brno, lakes and generally the most lovely countryside. We did a day trip to Vienna which only took 2 hours and we even went skiing in Austria for a day (St Wolfgang - 2 and a half hours drive each way). So my tip - go there, rent a traditional chalet, its stunning and cheap!
