. Something to add to your itinerary when you visit Australia ...
The North Coast region of the state of New South Wales is a mecca of great river valleys and fabulous endless beaches (for over 40 years it's been a surfing paradise).
The Manning Valley (principal town, Taree) is traversed by the Manning River which flows into the sea through Australia's only river delta system. Numerous long beaches offer surfing and sunbaking and the hinterland includes Ellenborough Falls near Elands, Comboyne and Wingham Brush. The Falls are one of the highest single-drop falls (160 metres or 520 feet) in the Southern Hemisphere - there are several viewing platforms from which to view the Falls. The village of Comboyne is set in picture-postcard countryside. Wingham Brush a small setcion of endangered subtropical floodplain forest.
The Great Lakes area consists of three main lakes Myall Lake, Smith's Lake and Wallis Lake. These are contained within the 31,562 hectare Myall Lakes National Park encompassing a variety of ecosystems.
