Location: Chumphon is on the coast of the Gulf of Thailand south of Hua Hin and Bangkok
and north of Surat Thani.
Most people only pass through Chumphon either going to or from Koh Tao or Koh Phangan. There are a few 2 star hotels in town, the Paradorn and the Jansom are reasonable hotels for an overnight stop in Chumphon. There is a small shopping mall and quite a few restaurants and places to eat in the central part of Chumphon.
