Rila Mountains
If you are in Bulgaria, make sure you take a trip down to the Rila Mountains to visit the Monastery. You can go there on a day trip from Sofia, or stay overnight in the monastery itself which is quite inexpensive. The Monastery is fantastic, as are the surrounding mountains. If you have more time, consider spending a couple of days hiking in the mountains.

Accommodation
Biggest tip is to book early for weekend accommodation as the city is so popular as we found out. Its not the cleanest hostel but has plenty of hot water a great bar......watch out for the church bells that ring every hour!

I found the bus and train transportation in Wellington cheap and easy to use. Look into the daypass for multiple stops all around the city and perime....
